LSC1503 My Self-Reflection
Abdullah
Harib Alhameli/H00231009
LSC1503
Communication
skills
I have noticed a few things
in Mr. Greg’s class which I haven’t been able to notice before, some of which
is the communication skills and the interviewing skills. What I developed from
this class was; how would I reply and ask questions in an interview and how
would I get the conversation going while interviewing. We worked on the interviewing by interviewing
each other, and on the CV which is going to be very helpful in the future. In Addition,
I also took some presentation tips which I already put in use and it was so helpful
I got a better mark than the presentations I did before.
Those I think are the
primary skills everyone should go through and learn about them to get an
advantage from them in his/her career, I know that I am going to use every bit
of information I got in this class if not today I will tomorrow. I need those
kind of skills in my life, not just in collage and work, I believe what I learnt
can be used in the everyday life, the interviewing techniques I learnt is going
to be very helpful when I will be looking for a job. The presentation skills are
going to be in handy after I get the job and they are as important as the
interview techniques, all I got to say is thank you a lot Mr. Greg for the awesome
course.

Subject: VA Homeless Veterans PSA
A: Sergeant Michelle Garcia served meritoriously in Iraq and has the medals to prove it. Soon after leaving the navy, Lieutenant Chris Scott found a job, a home and started a family of his own. Corpsman Richard stokely took the skills he learned Vietnam and put them to good use as a paramedic. But soon after leaving the military each of these veterans fell on hard times and faced homelessness.
Even after Michelle lost all her savings, even after Chris wasn't able to pay his mortgage, and even after Richard battled alcoholism for years, they each reached out for help when they needed it most. A simple phone call put them in touch with a trained professional from the department of veterans affairs, that call got Michelle a place to stay until she can afford one of her own, put Chris in touch with employment assistance, and found Richard a substance abuse program.
These veterans success stories not only for how they where able to help others while serving their country, but for how they where able to let others help them. If you know of or a veteran in need make the call.

Ted talk tittle: breaking down plastics with bacteria
Ted talk author: Miranda Wang and Jeanny Yao
Ted talk time: 9:20
Two young scientists were worried about the incredible increasing of plastics which can affect the whole organisms, including the atmosphere. Their idea began with an accident as the penicillin accident. So they found out accidents can lead to discoveries, they aren't always considered to be harmful, unfortunate and dangerous. Plastics are double edged sword as they are usable, durable and flexible as they are one of the main reasons behind the destruction of Eco system and the pollution. They decided to demolish the waste of plastics by a new method to get rid of the over amount of plastics because recycle is not enough, in addition they take long time to decay. So the experiment started with 3 samples of bacteria from a river but there were few mistakes. In the end the two scientists reached to wonderful results that can be evolve at the hands of the more experienced scientists.
